The three standalone stores include a Sunglasses shop and a dual outlet dedicated to beauty brands Mac and Jo Malone

Duty-free operator WDF has opened three new outlets at Edinburgh airport: a standalone Sunglasses store (pictured right) and a dual-concept shop dedicated to Estée Lauder-owned beauty brands Mac and Jo Malone (pictured below). The sunglass concept covers 53sq m (570sq ft) and the dual beauty space spans 57sq m (613sq ft), 30sq m (322sq ft) are dedicated to Mac and the remaining 27sq m (290sq ft) to Jo Malone.

The Sunglasses boutique offers a more extended range than the main store including new brands such as Tiffany, D&G, Pucci and Fendi. The store also has a personalised back wall dedicated to Ray-Ban’s Never Hide design, featuring the brand’s first new categorisation by style in the world, with columns dedicated to Rare Print, Icons, Classics, Polarised and Tech designs. Products are displayed in freestanding units to allow customers to handle and try on the sunglasses.

The dual-concept Mac/Jo Malone outlet was developed in partnership with Estée Lauder and features Jo Malone’s colognes, body lotions, shower gels and home fragrances in addition to Mac’s make-up and accessories, including products designed exclusively for travel-retail.

WDF commercial director Jo O’Connor said: “The standalone store concept is one that we have had great success with—our customers enjoy the option of a more bespoke store environment and the increased focus on a specific product area. We’re delighted to have been able to work so closely with Esteé Lauder to develop this exciting dual-store format for both the Mac and Jo Malone brands. It’s a real first and since it officially started trading on October 21 is has proved to be a huge draw for customers. Our specialist Sunglasses store reflects our commitment to delivering outstanding product choice, value and customer service and these three new stores will offer an exciting and further improved retail experience for those travelling through Edinburgh airport.”

Edinburgh airport managing director Kevin Brown added: "The response from passengers on the way the new departure lounge is developing is fantastic. Key to this is the range of high quality retailers including the new additions from WDF. We're committed to giving our passengers a great choice of routes and great airport in which to start their journeys. Working in partnership with WDF allows us to go a long way to achieving that."
